MONTEROSSO CALABRO

Monterosso Calabro is on the scope of Mount Capperi from where the artificial basin of natural oasis of Angitola’s Lake overlooks. It has the characteristic construction in bleachers with narrow lanes and external stepladders. Of unknown origins, it comes from an old manor house built in a strategic position in order to permit long-distance sighting. It was hamlet of the Castelmonardo Peerage and in the second decade of XVI century it passed to Pignatelli of Monteleone. The small town has the characteristic of medieval centers, narrow and windy streets, latch and crossing tunnels. There are many interesting palaces with wonderful stone portals, noble emblems and decorations (palaces Aceti, Basile and Massara). The places Brigante-Parrera-Barone are full of oligomineral water sources.
