FABRIZIA

Fabrizia is a small village rose up thanks to the transmigration of Castelvetere and Roccella’s people. In 1591 it was founded like an independent municipality thanks to the Prince of Roccella, Fabrizio Carafa that decided to build his summer residence and impose his own name to the place. The caste still exists today, symbolized “the cornerstone of all activities” of feud for a long time. Carafa’s family demonstrated its bond to the village by building near the Curch of “S.S. Sacramento” (1737), the Chapel of the Rosary. In 1742 it was consecrated and it was also proclaimed of exclusive patronage of Carafa.

According to the “onciario land register” or “Carolino land register” (1746) in this place there were numerous artisans: blacksmiths, tailors, craftsmen, masons, cheesmakers, snow keepers, “chianchieri”, estate managers, hired hands.

On the river banks of Allaro there were many mils used to grind and different furnaces to realize clay artifacts.
